Award to Researchers and Medical Teams in Asian Countries
The 9th Kobayashi Foundation Award Guidelines for Applicants
The Kobayashi Foundation Award will be given to the outstanding researchers and medical teams who have made remarkable social contributions in the field of cancer chemotherapy in Asian countries and/or territories except Japan.
Please find two different application guidelines and forms. Part 1 is for the researchers who have shown outstanding achievements and performances in research and development in the field of oncology and cancer chemotherapy. Part 2 is for the medical teams composed of healthcare professionals, who contribute to the development of medical care and society to improve the outcome of anticancer treatment in their own country and/or territory. Clinical trials are ineligible for the application.
Part 1:Award to Researchers
Objective
The Kobayashi Foundation Award will be given to researcher who conducted distinguished research and made remarkable contributions, developments, and/or achievements for oncology or cancer chemotherapy in their own country and/or territory, except Japan.
Eligibility
Must be engaged in research and development in the field of oncology and cancer chemotherapy.
Must be researcher who have the nationality of Asian country and/or territory except Japan, and belong to institute, hospital, nonprofit organization or university of their own country and/or territory.
How to Apply
Download the application form from the website of the Kobayashi Foundation for Cancer Research, and fill out the form in English, with a recommendation from your institutional leader. Upload the application in PDF format on the website.
Application Period
From November 1st, 2024 to January 10th (by 5pm JST), 2025
Selection Process
One or two award winners will be selected by members of the selection committee composed of oncology and cancer chemotherapy experts of Kobayashi Foundation.
Award
Winner(s) can obtain the award with the prize money of 2,000,000 Japanese yen.
Result Announcement
The result will be announced on the websites of Kobayashi Foundation. Also the result will be given to the applicants individually.
Award Ceremony
The award winners will be invited to Japan to receive their awards and deliver a memorial lecture in the presentation ceremony.

Part2:Award to the medical teams composed of healthcare professionals
Objective
The Kobayashi Foundation Award will be given to one or two medical teams composed of healthcare professionals (e.g. medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, medical educators, etc.) who made remarkable contributions developments and/or achievements for oncology or cancer chemotherapy in their own countries and/or territories. The applicant (representative person) must be at age 50 years or younger as of January 10th, 2025.
Eligibility
Must be the team composed of healthcare professionals engaged in the field of oncology and cancer chemotherapy.
Representative person must be under the age of 50 (as of January 10, 2025)
Applicants with nationality of lower-middle income countries (World Bank country classification by income level) are given priority, but applicants who have nationality with other countries may also apply.
Representative person must be belong to institute, hospital, nonprofit organization or university of their own country.
Clinical trials are ineligible for the application.
